NEISSR Youth Development Specialisation Observes International Youth Day

The Youth Development Specialisation of North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) observed International Youth Day on the theme ‘Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond.’ The programme commenced with an invocation prayer by Sr. Pansuri, MSW 1st Semester, followed by Bible reading and meditation led by Mr. Yangten and Mr. Tingwangsuidibo, both from MSW 1st Semester.

Rev. Fr. G. L. Khing, Vice-Principal, NEISSR exhorted the trainees to be resourceful for the benefit of society. He stated that the youth are “the Now of society.” They are the best resources of the nation. They must live constructively and engage with the given task, and take up responsibility to brighten the face of society. The future should not be built at the expense of the present. The “now-present” is the most important time for the youth. The various talents and potentials must be pooled towards the nation-building. He cited the students’ participation as an example of resources that are visible and encouraging. The International Youth Day 2025 emphasised the necessity of local contribution for the SDGs and beyond. The spark of this mission can be fulfilled by the youth of the now. He cited the National Youth Policy 2021 to throw light on quality education, employment and entrepreneurship, youth leadership and development, health, sports and fitness and social justice.

The programme was moderated by Ms. Roselyn Maria Reji, MSW 3rd Semester, and featured a variety of segments including news headlines, personal sharing, special song and thought of the day. The programme concluded with renewed encouragement for students to align their personal and professional aspirations with the broader vision of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, not just locally but with a global perspective.
