Prof. Rosemary Dzuvichu was Conferred 2022 Peace Channel Award
Peace Centre of Peace Channel and NEISSR celebrated its foundation day cum annual 15th Peace Knit Fest 2022 along with the commemoration of International Peace Day on 21st of September 2022 at Peace Centre, 7th Mile Chümoukedima. Shri. Rothihu Tetseo , IPS, Commissioner of Police, Dimapur graced the occasion as the chief guest. During his speech, Shri. Rothihu Tetseo stated that peace is important in the society as development and security prevail with the presence of peace. He then further states that, along with tribalism, trust deficiency is also one among many other issues faced in Nagaland. He conclude by stating that peace means adjustment and forgive first, unless you forgive somebody you cannot have peace so the power of love we can have peace.
Following was the Annual Peace Award ceremony where Prof. Rosemary Dzuvichu was conferred Peace Award 2022. Prof. Rosemary Dzuvichu is a professor of English literature at Nagaland University and a Peace activist. She has been teaching since 1982 in college and universities. Dr. Rosemary Dzuvichu wears many hats. She is the first women co-convenor of the Naga Peoples Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR); An Advisory Board Member of South East Asian Peace and Conflict Studies; A Drafting Committee member on the Peace studies syllabus for Indian Universities; A Jury member of the World Court of Women for Peace; An expert committee member on North East National Commission for women. Earlier she served as a member of the Forum for Naga reconciliation; and was also the President of CEC, Nagaland University Teachers Association.
Currently, she is serving as the Co-convenor of Global Naga Forum; a President of the Rotary Club of Kohima, and presently an adviser to the Naga Mother’s Association (NMA), an apex body of women in the state. Under the aegis of Naga Mother’s Association (NMA), Dr. Rosemary along with her peace team facilitated dialogue and brought conflicting parties to a negotiating table. In 2011, She also initiated litigation which led to the 33% representation of women in urban bodies in Nagaland. She also led three NMA peace missions into Myanmar as Convenor, NMA Peace committee. Throughout the years she has made a valuable contribution, particularly in the field of reconciliation, peacebuilding, and in dealing with human rights issues and political empowerment. She relentlessly advocated for women’s rights and grassroots communities.
Beside the award ceremony, the other events of the day were the Inter-faith meet and the launching of VEDHIK IAS academy in Peace centre. The sessions was moderated by Ms. Vitono Gugu Haralu
Mr. Daiguang Riamei did a reading from different scriptures; the occasion was graced with the lighting of the lamp by the chief Guest, Shri. Rothihu Tetseo , IPS, Commissioner of Police, Dimapur and leaders from various faith traditions followed by a welcome note addressed delivered by Dr. Fr. C. P. Anto, Director, Peace Channel and Principal, NEISSR.
