North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR), located in the heart of Nagaland’s land of opportunity, Chümoukedima, stands as a beacon of academic excellence and social transformation. 

Established as the first institute in the state to offer a Master of Social Work (MSW) under Nagaland University, NEISSR is a pioneering institution dedicated to empowering youth through value-based, peace-oriented, and action-driven education. With a strong commitment to nation-building through social sciences, NEISSR offers professional programmes in Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW). Our curriculum is rooted in experiential learning, community engagement, and research innovation. At the master level, it offers specializations in Peace and Conflict Transformation Studies (PCTS), Community Development (CD), Youth Development (YD) and Social Entrepreneurship Development (SED).

The institute is renowned for its MSW in Peace and Conflict Transformation Studies, the first of its kind in India. NEISSR’s approach is distinct—our PEAR methodology (Planning, Executing, Assessing, Remodelling) and models like E2+P2=S (Engaging & Enhancing People for Peace for Sustainability) reflect our mission of grooming compassionate leaders and professionals. Students are not just educated; they are mentored to become catalysts of peace, development, and positive change in society.

The institute boasts state-of-the-art infrastructure, including ICT-enabled classrooms, a Peace Library, Media and Peace Labs, open gym, herbal gardens, and PWD-friendly spaces. With over 30 skill-oriented certificate courses, NEISSR ensures holistic development, integrating academic rigor with real-world application. The ‘Sarvodaya’ program, traditional skill centre (‘Morung’), and Buddy System foster leadership, cultural pride, and collaborative growth. Our faculty are not only academically qualified but bring years of field experience, making learning dynamic and grounded.
