Dear Friends and Well wishers,

My heart is filled with great joy and pleasure as I address these lines to our well wishers and friends. I m very happy that the Diocese of Kohima is starting North East Institute for Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR), the first Master of Social Work College in Nagaland.

At the outset, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Almighty God for his blessings and providence allowing this opportunity. I would also like to thank the Government of Nagaland and the Nagaland University for acknowledging the need of an MSW college and granting us the permission to start the first MSW College in Nagaland. The Catholic Church in Nagaland has always been in the vanguard of promoting education, spreading even to the remotest parts of the state. This MSW College is a long cherished desire of the church in Nagaland to cater to the need of higher education in the state.

I also firmly believe that it will cater to the educational need of youth who could not afford to venture outside the state due to financial constraints. I believe that this college will provide opportunities and avenues for our youth to find their feet in this competitive world.

I am also happy to know that the college is catering to the long felt need of the region and the state in particular by offering specialization in Peace and Conflict Transformation Studies along with Youth Development and Community Development for the first time in the country.

With the hope that this course will help our youth understand the need of peace to bring development, realize their potentials and work for our communities, I wish and pray for God’s abundant blessings on the managing board of the college and everyone who will be part of this college to be the agents of change.

Being a helping profession, I hope and pray that this college will instill in the hearts of the youth a desire and a longing to ‘Excel in Knowledge and Grow in Service’ towards fellow human beings to make our Naga Society and our State a better place to live.
