North East Institute of Social Sciences Research (NEISSR) in Chumoukedima, Nagaland, recently organized a thought-provoking program focusing on social work and government schemes related to Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools on 3rd April 2025 at BAM Hall. The event aimed to educate students on the potential applications of AI in social work and governance, highlighting the transformative impact of technology on societal development.
Guest speaker Father Boney Sebastian, MCBS, delivered an insightful presentation, introducing students to fundamental AI concepts and their practical uses. He emphasized the importance of understanding AI’s capabilities and limitations, as well as its potential to drive positive change in various sectors. Father Sebastian showcased various AI-powered tools, including the UMANG App, which provides citizens with easy access to government services, and the Invideo AI App, a video editing platform that leverages AI for content creation.The program encouraged students to explore the possibilities of AI in social work and governance, fostering a deeper understanding of the intersection of technology and social development.Furthermore, the program highlighted the significance of developing AI literacy among social workers and policymakers. By acquiring a deeper understanding of AI’s capabilities and limitations, these stakeholders can harness the potential of AI to drive more effective and efficient social interventions.
