ICT TOOLS AND RESOURCES

Technology has gifted us with tools and resources to render the teaching and learning process more organized, informed, accessible and interesting. This page is dedicated to introducing students, research scholars and teachers to the various kinds of online tools and resources available.

1. Learning Management System

1.1 Moodle: Moodle is an acronym for "Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment." It is an online educational platform that provides custom learning environments for students. Educators can use Moodle to create lessons, manage courses, and interact with teachers and students. Students can use Moodle to review the class calendar, submit assignments, take quizzes, and interact with their classmates.

1.2 ERP: Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is a platform companies use to manage and integrate the essential parts of their businesses. Many ERP software applications are critical to companies because they help them implement resource planning by integrating all the processes needed to run their companies with a single system. An ERP software system can also integrate planning, purchasing inventory, sales, marketing, finance, human resources, and more. The ERP system was developed by the IT department of NEISSR.The institute employs ERP and Moodle as Learning Management System.

2. Online Conferencing Platforms

2.1 Google Meet – Google meet is another online Conferencing platform for conducting online classes and webinars. It is a video conferencing app that’s available to everyone who has a Google account. An online meeting is easy to set up through Google meet where you are allowed to have up to 100 participants and can be in the meeting for as long as 60 minutes. Similar to ZOOM, Google Meet can also share the whole screen, or a single application window with meeting participants. As a virtual learning platform, NEISSR employs Google meet for online conferencing.https://meet.google.com/

2.2 ZOOM – Zoom has become one of the leading video conferencing software apps. It enables you to virtually interact with one another when in-person meetings aren’t possible. Zoom is basically a video conferencing app where you can use to virtually meet with others – either by video or audio-only or both, all while conducting live chats – and it lets you record those sessions to view later. You can share your whole screen, or a single application window with meeting participants. This lets you share and collaborate with ease. This has become one of the important online conferencing platform for conducting online classes and webinars. As a virtual learning platform, NEISSR employs ZOOM for online conferencing.https://zoom.us/signin

3. Data Processing and Visualization

3.1 MS Word - Microsoft Word or MS Word (often called Word) is a graphical word processing program that users can type with. It is made by the computer company Microsoft. Its purpose is to allow users to type and save documents.

3.2 Microsoft Excel - Microsoft Excel is one of the most widely used software programmes worldwide. Excel has powerful tools and functions used in international IT companies' applications. It makes data entry, reading, and processing simple. Excel keeps the information in a table format in Rows and Columns.

3.3 Adobe Reader - Adobe Acrobat is a family of application software and Web services developed by Adobe Inc. to view, create, manipulate, print and manage Portable Document Format (PDF) files.

NEISSR employs MS Office and Adobe Reader for data processing and visualization.

4. Presentation

4.1 PowerPoint - MS PowerPoint is a program that is included in the Microsoft Office suite. It is used to make presentations for personal and professional purposes. NEISSR employs PowerPoint for class presentations.

5. Research

5.1 SPSS - SPSS is a Software widely used as a Statistical Analytic Tool in the Field of Social Science, Such as Market research, Surveys, Competitor Analysis, and others. It is a comprehensive and flexible statistical analysis and data management tool. It is one of the most popular statistical packages that can easily manipulate and analyse highly complex data. It is designed for both interactive and non-interactive users. All the students are trained in SPSS. Students use SPSS for data analysis for their research.

5.2 Excel Sheet - Data analysis provides insights from raw data which is used to support decision-making. Microsoft Excel is a simple, powerful, and one of the top tools for data analysis. This comprehensive guide will introduce you to the concepts of data analysis and present practical examples using Microsoft Excel. All the students are trained in SPSS. Students use SPSS and Excel for data analysis in their research.

6. Sharing of learning materials/information

6.1 E-mail - Email stands for Electronic Mail. It is a method to send messages from one computer to another computer through the Internet. It is mostly used in business, education, technical communication, and document interactions. It allows communicating with people all over the world without bothering them.

6.2 WhatsApp - WhatsApp is an instant messaging (IM)and voice-over-IP (VoIP) service owned by technology conglomerate Meta. It allows users to send text, voice messages and video messages, make voice and video calls, and share images, documents, user locations, and other content. WhatsApp's client application runs on mobile devices, and can be accessed from computers.

6.3 Instagram - Instagram is an American photo and video sharing social networking service owned by Meta Platforms. It allows users to upload media that can be edited with filters, be organized by hashtags, and be associated with a location via geographical tagging. Posts can be shared publicly or with preapproved followers. Users can browse other users' content by tags and locations, view trending content, like photos, and follow other users to add their content to a personal feed.

6.4 YouTube - YouTube is a popular video sharing website where registered users can upload and share videos with anyone able to access the site. These videos can also be embedded and shared on other sites.

6.5 Google Classroom - Google Classroom is a suite of online tools that allows teachers to set assignments, have work submitted by students, to mark, and to return graded papers. It was created as a way to get eliminate paper in classes and to make digital learning possible.

6.6 Twitter - Twitter is a social networking and microblogging online service that allows users to send and receive text-based messages or posts called “tweets.” 

NEISSR uses social media platforms like WhatsApp, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter to share information and update its activities. Google classroom, E mail and WhatsApp are also used to share study materials.

7. Data collection, evaluation and quiz

7.1 Google Forms - Google Forms is free online software that allows you to create surveys and quizzes. It's part of Google's web-based apps suite, including Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, and more. It's a versatile tool that can be used for various applications, from gathering RSVPs for an event to creating a pop quiz.

7.2 Google Drive - Google Drive is a cloud storage service, and like all cloud services, its primary function is to take some load off your hard drive. Cloud storage works by uploading your files to its own remote servers - or the “cloud” - freeing up space on your computer. This leaves more space on your devices for more important things, like installing large apps and games.

Google forms are used frequently by NEISSR from data collection to gathering feedbacks and evaluation of all programmes from various stakeholders. All the important files are stored in the google drive for safe and secure data storage.

8. ICT tools

8.1 Smart TV – Allthe classrooms are installed with smart TV. Smart TVs also have provision for connecting laptops or other devices through HDMI or removable disc like pendrivefor presentations.

8.2 Computer – The institute has equipped with the latest systems for enhancing its teaching learning processes. Students can have access to computers in the library or computer room for preparing their PowerPoint presentation slides, browsing of internet for study material or research purpose, data analysis and other purposes for their academic and professional enhancement.

8.3 Projector –Apart from smart TVs, the institute has equipped with portable projectors for each classroom for both faculty and students’ presentations.
