World Mental Health day
North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR), Chümoukedima with Carl Rogers Institute of Mental Health and School Counseling (CRIMHSC), Kohima commemorated the World Mental Health day at Peace Centre, Chümoukedima.
The resource person Daewon Nongmen of CRIMHSC underscored the universal nature of mental health challenges, stating, “Mental health crisis does not discriminate. It can happen to anyone.” He emphasised that mental health issuesaffect individuals of all ages, genders, and ethnicities and urged everyone to openly discuss their struggles without fear of judgment.

Awareness Program for Chumoukedima Auto Drivers
The North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) organized an Awareness Program for Chumoukedima Auto Drivers on July 30, 2023 at Peace Centre Hall Chumoukedima, Nagaland. A total of 134 Auto drivers attended the program. The program was moderated by ThongumoLotha, MSW 3rd semester.
Dr.Fr. C P Anto, Director of Peace Channel and Principal of NEISSR welcomed the Auto drivers and appreciated them for their valuable presence.

NEISSR commemorated 7thGraduationDay
Youth need to enhance work culture to sustain our society
North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) commemorated 7thGraduationDay on 18th October 2022 at Peace Centre, Chümoukedima.49 students of Masters in Social Work received their graduation certificate during the function.
The academic procession marked the beginning of the function with colours and celebrations.Rev. Fr. Chacko Karinthayil invoked God’s blessings.Rev. Fr. Dr. C. P.Anto, Principal, NEISSR welcomed the dignitaries and the graduates. He congratulated the graduates and exhorted them to be well prepared to face all challenges with knowledge and skills. Ms. Imtipongla Kichu shared the journey of NEISSR encompassing various programmes,events, values and ethics. Ms. Livino, former President of Students Council for Social Change reminisced the memories in NEISSR with appreciation.
The Chief Guest, Shri. Menuokholie Kire, Joint Director (Admin) and State Project Director (RUSA), Higher education, Govt. of Nagaland expressed his joy and congratulated the graduates for their success and achievement. He emphasised the importance of skill development as the need of the hour. Every student must venture out with dedication and hard work to realise their dreams. Blame game must give way to reasons and commitment.
The Guest of Honour, Rev Fr. Dr. George Kedhoulhou, Principal, St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous) Jakhama Stressed the importance of leadership in the perspective of today’s context. He cited A. P. J. Abdul Kalam as an intellectual leader with dreams and visions. Today, Nagas have learnt the culture of hard work and consistency. These have enhanced the intellectual growth of the individuals. Students must imbibed the qualities of intellectual leadership to be more efficient and effective in the society.Society can be much safer in the hands of the intellectuals.
Mr. Stephen Gangmei, Assistant Professor, felicitated the graduates with certificates and awards.Ms. Magdalen Odyuo bagged the first Rank award, Best Research award and Best Student Award. She expressed her gratitude to the institute, faculties and students for moulding her life. She encouraged the students to give their best in academic fields and other co-curriculum activities for the all-round development. Meanwhile, the Best Professional Progressive Circle (PPC) was awarded to ‘We Can team’ for bringing out the best model “Promise Home.”
Earlier the host for the programme were Ms. ZhovinoKechu and Mr. KossamLaoba Konyak. The celebration concluded with a note of gratitude proposed by Rev. Fr. Khing, Vice-Principal and Administrator.

Three Days Workshop on ‘Managing Behavioural Disorders in Children and Family Therapy jointly organized by IQAC Cell NEISSR and PEACE CHANNEL at Peace Centre, 7th Mile Chümoukedima from October 24th to October 26th, 2022.

Three Days Workshop on “Managing Behavioral Disorders
North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR), Chumoukedima, Nagaland organized Three Days Workshop on “Managing Behavioral Disorders in children and Family Therapy” from 24th to 26th October, 2022 at Peace Centre Hall, Chumoukedima. The speaker for the three days workshop, Sr. Dr. Joan Chunkapura MMS, Principal and Secetary TRADA Kottayam, kerala, on the first day shared on: Family Therapy which emphasizes on the behavioral change composing of three types of feelings that are, Behavioral pattern, Belief system and Cultural context: Power of therapy which includes Hierarchical power, Functional power and Communication patterns: Family life cycle, she also stressed upon experiential and structural family therapy.
On the second day of workshop the speaker spoke on ‘Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder’’ (ADHD) and stressed upon the importance of SQ3R which is Scan Question Read Repeat and Recall, she also shared the significance of Diagnostic criteria inattention and Hyperactivity Impulsivity, Behavioral Oriented Treatment, child depression and kleptomania. She mentioned that in allowing the child to follow certain roles and rules, not only about sexual health and sexual hygiene but also on spirituality aspects to which she stated advice is the sole medication in relating to rewarding a child and to give psycho education to parents since majority of the parents are unaware of such symptoms.
On the last day of work shop, Sr. Dr Joan spoke on the dialectical behavior therapy, which include dialectical behavior, rational emotive behavioral therapy, compassion focused therapy and cognitive processing therapy. The second session was headed by Fr. Matthew, who spoke on counseling and guidance in children and how the counselor view and solve problems through negotiation, dialogue counselling and guidance influence the behavior, feelings and values. The overall session was moderated by Ma’am Judith Huidina Asst. prof. NEISSR with welcome note from Rev. Fr. Chacko Karanthayil where he warmly welcomed esteemed guest and all the participants for the workshop with a closing remark from Dr. C.P, Anto founder and director of Peace Channel and Principal of NEISSR mentioned the importance of harnessing mental health and encouraged the participants to maintain healthy relationships.
