    Prof. Rosemary Dzuvichu was Conferred 2022 Peace Channel Award

    Peace Centre of Peace Channel and NEISSR celebrated its foundation day cum annual 15th Peace Knit Fest 2022 along with the commemoration of International Peace Day on 21st of September 2022 at Peace Centre, 7th Mile Chümoukedima. Shri. Rothihu Tetseo , IPS, Commissioner of Police, Dimapur graced the occasion as the chief guest. During his speech, Shri. Rothihu Tetseo stated that peace is important in the society as development and security prevail with the presence of peace. He then further states that, along with tribalism, trust deficiency is also one among many other issues faced in Nagaland. He conclude by stating that peace means adjustment and forgive first, unless you forgive somebody you cannot have peace so the power of love we can have peace.
    Following was the Annual Peace Award ceremony where Prof. Rosemary Dzuvichu was conferred Peace Award 2022. Prof. Rosemary Dzuvichu is a professor of English literature at Nagaland University and a Peace activist. She has been teaching since 1982 in college and universities. Dr. Rosemary Dzuvichu wears many hats. She is the first women co-convenor of the Naga Peoples Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR); An Advisory Board Member of South East Asian Peace and Conflict Studies; A Drafting Committee member on the Peace studies syllabus for Indian Universities; A Jury member of the World Court of Women for Peace; An expert committee member on North East National Commission for women. Earlier she served as a member of the Forum for Naga reconciliation; and was also the President of CEC, Nagaland University Teachers Association.
    Currently, she is serving as the Co-convenor of Global Naga Forum; a President of the Rotary Club of Kohima, and presently an adviser to the Naga Mother’s Association (NMA), an apex body of women in the state. Under the aegis of Naga Mother’s Association (NMA), Dr. Rosemary along with her peace team facilitated dialogue and brought conflicting parties to a negotiating table. In 2011, She also initiated litigation which led to the 33% representation of women in urban bodies in Nagaland. She also led three NMA peace missions into Myanmar as Convenor, NMA Peace committee. Throughout the years she has made a valuable contribution, particularly in the field of reconciliation, peacebuilding, and in dealing with human rights issues and political empowerment. She relentlessly advocated for women’s rights and grassroots communities.
    Beside the award ceremony, the other events of the day were the Inter-faith meet and the launching of VEDHIK IAS academy in Peace centre. The sessions was moderated by Ms. Vitono Gugu Haralu
    Mr. Daiguang Riamei did a reading from different scriptures; the occasion was graced with the lighting of the lamp by the chief Guest, Shri. Rothihu Tetseo , IPS, Commissioner of Police, Dimapur and leaders from various faith traditions followed by a welcome note addressed delivered by Dr. Fr. C. P. Anto, Director, Peace Channel and Principal, NEISSR.

  • ‘NAPSWI National Young Achievers Award 2022’

    Dr. Fr. C.P. Anto Conferred the ‘NAPSWI National Young Achievers Award 2022’

    Dr. Fr. C.P. Anto, Founder- Principal of NEISSR, and Founder-Director of Peace Channel, is awarded the ‘NAPSWI Young Achievers Award 2022’ on 15th of December 2022 at Ahmednagar, Maharashtra during the Xth Indian Social Work Congress.
    The event is jointly organized by National Association of Professional Social Workers in India (NAPSWI) and B.P.H.E Society’s C.S.R.D -Institute of Social Work and Research. This year event which commenced from 15th to 17th December 2022 is hosted by C.S.R.D -Institute of Social Work and Research, Ahemednagar, Maharashtra. The theme of this year is on ‘Green Social Work- Response to Climate Change and Environmental Issues’.
    The award was conferred for his contribution towards professional Social Work and in appreciation for initiating the first Social Work Institute in Nagaland and much more for introducing MSW in Peace and Conflict Transformation Studies, a context based course which is relevant to the state of Nagaland and the North East Region.
    In his acceptance speech, Dr. Fr. C.P. Anto said, “I dedicate this award to the people of Nagaland, especially to the innocent people who sacrificed their life for peace. He also thanked his Bishops, Priests, Brothers and Sisters of Diocese of Kohima, Nagaland, Sacred Heart College Tirupattur, my own family members, and my beloved Peace Channel and NEISSR fraternity”. He thanked Prof. Lanunungsang Ao his mentor, Nagaland University for their constant support and guidance, Prof. Suresh Pathare the Principal CSRD-ISWR, Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, and Prof. R.P. Dwivedi president NAPSWI in his response.
    The Indian Social Work Congress is an initiative of the National Association of Professional Social Workers in India (NAPSWI). Established in 2005, NAPSWI is a non-profit, non-political, national level organization dedicated to the promotion of standards and status of the social work profession. It has the largest member of professional social workers in the country.
    The purpose of organizing Indian Social Work Congress is to bring a fraternity of professional social workers from across the states of India to discuss and deliberate upon the issues related to social work profession, social work education, research, and practice in India as well as in other contexts.
    The NEISSR and Peace Channel family acknowledge and appreciate Dr. Fr. C.P. Anto for his tireless service to the people of Nagaland and the region in promoting social work activities and peace-building initiatives. We are proud of his achievement.

  • The first Social Work Fest was held at St. Joseph University (SJU)

    NEISSR Participates in Social Work Fest, 2023

    The first Social Work Fest was held at St. Joseph University (SJU), Chümoukedima by the Department of Social Work under the theme ‘Respecting Diversity Through Joint Social Actions’ Dated March 21st and 22nd.
    North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) along with other Social Work institute participated in the various activities and competitions such as debate (LGBTQ), video presentation (social problems), street play (respecting diversity), model presentation (rural farming), cultural show, solo singing and solo dance.

    Rev. Fr. Khing, Vice Principal and Admin (NEISSR) was the resource person on the second day (March 22) where he highlighted on how the importance of knowledge and skills can be enhanced to address social problems with actions. He also emphasized on how professional social workers should try to resolve the social problems and issues without wasting much resources.

    NEISSR secured the first position in the street play (respecting diversity). The participants were

    NEISSR also secured second position in the model presentation (rural farming). The participants were NG Souhvane Lishe BSW 2nd Semester, H Nyemnyei Phom MSW 4th Semester, Lungkemriakle MSW 4th Semester, C Kongden MSW 4th Semester, and Khenishe K Sumi MSW 4th Semester.
